GMail - Right Side Labels

I'm so annoyed by this! Yesterday, Google changed GMail's look & feel — now we are forced to have our labels on the left side... Argh!!! And this is completely non-functional if you have more than just a few of them!

I used labels (together with "skip-the-inbox" filtering) to keep the inbox clean and automatically move my mail under a proper label (=folder). Because I use more than 20 labels, it is now VERY frustrating to scroll up and down all the time, just to check for new messages :-(

So, there you have it Google, left side of our screens is clogged now, and right side is empty. Moreover, GMail's Drag & Drop Lab feature doesn't work with Google Calendar / Google Docs gadgets, and "Labels on the right side" extension disappeared completely. GMail is not functional or flexible anymore...

Want Right Side Labels?

If you want Google to bring back the right side labels or allow us to drag Google Calendar / Docs gadgets to the right side of the screen, post your comment in their Help Forum ("I agree" is enough).

Google put up a help page for new labels, as well as a questionnaire — now you can say, how much you (dis)like new labels and describe why. Do it now!

Ough, it seems that Google engineer who bloged about the "left side labels" on GMail's blog is from Poland...

Sam pomysł nie jest zły tylko wykonanie do pupy. Wybrane niech sobie są po lewej, a po prawej wszystkie (wybrane i nie wybrane) bez żadnego rozwijania i przewijania i byłoby git.
Kto chce po staremu nie wybiera nic i ma, kto chce wybiera co chce i panel po prawej ukrywa, a kto chce wreszcie ma wybrane tagi po lewej, a po prawej de facto to co kiedyś - IMO nawet lepiej.

Gdyby jeszcze custom linki dało się walnąć na prawo nad tagi ... no ale nie można mieć wszystkiego :D

Piotr, have you seen settings after the change?

sorry guys, I always had them on the left [can have chat on the right] so I don't mind that they are still here. I use 29 labels, 5 of them for GTD purposes, some of them just to tag messages for easier navigation [Pictures, Videos, Links etc.]. I disliked the fact, that I always have all of them on the list! It pissed me off when I saw labels used only for searching - I would never click on them to see the whole 'folder'.
Now it's almost perfect!
It's up to me to decide what I see all the time and what is hidden from my sight. The only thing missing is label ordering. Maybe someday.
I do like when I have an option, something you can turn on and off, however if I would have a choice between old labels and new labels I choose the latter.

Hmmm, ciekawe
